2017 FCCLA NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
This year, more than 7,500 nationwide FCCLA members, advisers, alumni and guests gathered in Music City – Nashville, TN for the FCCLA National Leadership Conference.
This year’s theme, “Unlimited Possibilities” inspired attendees to discover their potential while exploring career opportunities, developing leadership skills, and growing personally while making a difference in their families and communities. Advisers and members attended learning sessions, workshops and listened to inspiring speakers.
Washington State took 132 delegates, 33 advisers representing 32 chapters, and 22 parents/ chaperones along with 2 state staff to Nashville, TN.
A total of 4,200 members competed in 31 STAR Events. Washington brought 99 STAR Events Participants in 27 events. We brought home a total of 64 Gold, 31 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals.
Toppenish High School, Kittitas Secondary School, Puyallup High School and Lake Stevens High School participated in Spotlight on Projects – displaying their outstanding chapter activities.
Washington State brought home 3 first place National Project Awards for the second year in a row!
- Kittitas Secondary School FCCLA was the first place National Project winner in Leadership Service in Action. They were awarded $1000 and an award plaque.
- Puyallup High School FCCLA was the first place National Project winner in Student Body and was awarded $1000 and an award plaque.
- Lake Stevens High School FCCLA was the first place winner in Career Connections. They were awarded $1000 and an award plaque.
Toppenish High School won a Bronze Level award for their “Go for the Red” Membership Campaign.
Kevin Connelly, Washington Parliamentarian and a sponsor and friend to Washington FCCLA won the National STAR Events Volunteer Award.
Jennifer Ward from Riverview High School won the Spirit of Advising Award.
