STAR Events (Students Taking Action With Recognition) are competitive events that allow members to compete in individual or team events. Participants must receive a “Gold” rating at Regional competitions to move on to the State Competition. At State, the top rated 1-2 “Gold Medal” individual or team/s per event (according to the current STAR Event Guide) move on to National Competition.
Competitions take place at the Regional level in January and at the State level in the spring at the State Leadership Conference. Members compete at the National level at the National Leadership Conference in July.
There are currently 29 STAR Events and 2 On-line Events. Make sure you download the most current copy of the Competitive Events guide from www.fcclainc.org/content/star-events/

STAR EVENTS NEWSLETTER:
PUBLICIZE STAR EVENTS:
ON-LINE PROJECT SUMMARY FORM:
The Online Project Summary Form is an online, survey-like form that STAR Event participants complete prior to their first competition. Once participants complete the online form, they will receive instructions online to print the proof of submission page and to have it signed by the chapter adviser. This form can then be placed in a file folder, portfolio, display, or scanned for inclusion in an electronic portfolio. It is the responsibility of the participant to include this proof of submission page in their event materials. This form will be found on the Adviser’s Affiliation Portal.
STATE AND NATIONAL PARTICIPANT ORIENTATION:
At the State level, there will be a form given to all participants at the STAR Event Participant Orientation which, when signed and presented to the room consultant at the participant’s event, will serve as verification of attending orientation. There will be no participant sign-in prior to Orientation at State STAR Events on Wednesday morning.
National FCCLA has implemented online orientation for STAR Event participants. Those teams representing Washington at Nationals will go online for their orientation and print off a verification sheet to turn into their evaluators.
